The Old Town Festival 2017 will pass under the motto Inspiration. The opening will be on 18th of September with an exciting folklore concert on the stage of the Ancient Theater with the participation of The Folklore Ensemble Trakia from Plovdiv and The Folklore Ensemble Strandzha from Burgas.The concert starts at 19:00 and the entry will be free of charge.

Last year under the same motto with which Plovdiv won the title European Capital of Culture - 2019, the ancient scene was shaken by the dancers of three of the most popular Bulgarian Folklore Ensembles - Trakia, Rodopa Smolyan and Pleven Northwestern Ensemble.

In the program of The Old Town Festival from 18th to 24th September, the organizers of the Municipal Institute Ancient Plovdiv have included varied events for all ages and interests - concerts, exhibitions, reviews, documentary film screening, traditional mosaic techniques, focus school, theater performances, magical performances, demonstration of drawing masks and dolls, a book premiere and a mobile application.

The opening of the attractive Autumn Crafts Fair, which is also traditionally part of the holiday program, begins on 21th September at 5:45 pm with a festive street procession from the Ethnographic Museum to the Ouzun Charshiya of the Small Main Street.

With the performance Legends and myths about the creation of Plovdiv, shadows from Trimontium - the three arts schools in Plovdiv - Tsanko Lavrenov National Art Academy, National High School of Stage and Film Design and National School for Music and Dance Dobrin Petkov will present TOGETHER their theater project Evmolpias.

The end of the festival will be held on 24th September, with a concert of the Berkovska Brass Music at 19:00 at the Roman stadium. The Old Town Festival has started in 2012 as a one-day event, with no budget, but with a very positive emotion, passion, love, adherents, with the support of friends and the media in the city. Over the years, the number of events has increased and today with a lot of Inspiration the celebrations last for a whole week, and the events and the way they happen, from preparation to realization, make the motto TOGETHER meaningful.
