Young Wine Festival is a trademark of the Council of Tourism – Plovdiv organizing and conducting tastings of young Bulgarian wines during the last week of November in the Old Town of Plovdiv. This is an exceptional opportunity for the wine lovers to build their wine list and try the new vintage of the Bulgarian wine producers.

   The  Young Wine Festival started in 2009, with 16 participants in 6 houses of the National Revival period. For eight years, the event has grown to a seven-day festival with a rich accompanying program, over 40 participants and over 21,000 visitors who tasted the Bulgarian young wine. Wine growers are located in the courtyards and within the Renaissance houses in the Old Town – museums, restaurants and galleries.

   The tenth jubilee edition of Young Wine Festival is to be held. In the days of the festival – 23, 24 and 25 November 2018. over 23,000 visitors from Bulgaria and the world are expected. The event is one of the mass and important for wine tourism in the country.

   Producers of honey, sausages, cheese, bread, mineral water, catering companies and renowned chefs complement wine varieties and enrich organoleptic combinations of consumers.

   Part of the festival are “Days of Young Wine” – a concurrent cultural program of saturating events in the urban environment such as dance attractions, exhibitions, film screenings, etc., with free entrance for visitors as well as lectures, seminars and presentations of wine- .

   The opening of  Young Wine Festival starts at 13:00, on Friday with Dionysie’s procession from the square in front of the Municipality to the Old Town, accompanied by Trakia Ensemble, as well as dancers lying on the main street on the way to the Roman Stadium, which invite people and hand out brochures about the event.

   The number of citizens and guests of the city are moving to the Old Town. This is followed by a dance-music program and greetings of the official guests of the event. The symbolic start of the consumption of young wine is given by the opening of the “Beer of Young Wine”, the first barrel of last year’s winner of golden honors. The officials led the connoisseurs of the good Bulgarian wine on the houses, sheltered by the masters of the wine. The first two days of the event / Friday and Saturday / wine tastings last up to 19 hours and on Sunday until 5 pm.

   “Evening Wine Masters” is a specially organized event, which announces the awards for the best young white, red and rosé wines, according to the regulation set by the tasting committee.

   In order to include the rating of the users in a separate ranking, we provide questionnaires that the tasters fill for white, red and rosé, and the lucky ones receive a prize – a bottle of selected young wine and a branded corkscrew.

   Visitors can buy tasting tokens at the entrance of each house at the festival locations. One token gives the right to a tasting. Glass cups engraved with the logo of the festival are offered at a purchase price together with tokens.

   Council of Tourism – Plovdiv and Plovdiv Municipality organize Young Wine Festival in active cooperation with the Old Plovdiv Plovdiv School, University of Food Technologies – Plovdiv, Sol Communications, Plovdiv 2019 Foundation, professional high schools and higher education institutions, all participants in the wine business. The Young Wine Festival occupies an appropriate place in the Plovdiv calendar and is part of the National Tourist
